Villa Godillot in Hyères

The Collegiate Church of Saint-Martin de Lorgues has been classified as a historical monument since April 10, 19971. The bishop of Fréjus erected the first church of Saint-Martin de Lorgues in 1421, this one which was in the old town was replaced by the current one whose construction began in 1704 and which kept the name of Saint-Martin. . It was Cardinal Fleury, future Prime Minister of Louis XV, then Bishop of Fréjus, who laid the first stone: “In the year of grace 1704, under the pontificate of Clement XI, under the reign of Louis XIV the Great. ..” Its construction was completed in 1729. It is one of the largest churches in the Var department. 56 meters long and 31 wide, it consists of a central nave and two side aisles divided into five bays.
